Customer Notes

I usually try to take brief notes on my customers…I often have customers who only return to me once every few months or longer, so it is helpful to have these little reminders when someone comes back to me.
Usually the notes are pretty simple, his name, and a brief little note about something he is interested in - just to help me get a conversation going again with him.
But I noticed a new thing I have started doing: including little reassurances about the guy. Maybe I’m just neurotic, maybe it’s just a case of my childhood shyness rearing back, but it helps me just to put a note in there that says “Cool guy” “Nice talking to him about my feet”, etc.
Of course I get to know quite a few regulars and don’t really *need* to make notes for everyone but it’s nice to have it there.
P.S. - wondering if I ever leave notes like “What an asshole?” or something similar? Actually, I never make notes like this. If a customer irritates me to the point I would write a note like that, I block him from buying future shows from me. Perhaps another topic of conversation, but one of the best parts of being independent is the ability to ‘reserve the right to refuse service.’ *wink*
